    Abstract: The optimal design of crank and rocker mechanisms satisfying four prescribed multiply separated positions of the moving plane is considered. The constraints are obtained from pairs of corresponding points on the generalized Burmester curves. Sorting the ∞2 linkages which result is accomplished by zones and weighting factors as applied to necessary design criteria.
