    Abstract: One of my first initiatives as the new Editor of the Journal of Mechanical Design in early 2003 was to increase the number of Associate Editors, to reduce the individual review management burden. The three-year terms of these colleagues come to an end this year, and I cannot express often enough or strongly enough the importance of their contribution to the success of our research community.
