description abstractThe use of tire tests for fiber characterization in research programs aimed at the development of improved tire yarns is discussed. Examples are included to demonstrate some of the factors which influence tire impact, fatigue, and heat resistance. The test results can be generally related to specific tire cord properties, thus defining the areas in which research should be concentrated.
