description abstract | A Model Management System (MMS) for vehicle dynamic system modeling is described, including lessons learned from a pilot implementation at Ford Motor Company. For complex vehicle systems, early phases of product development (requirements analysis and high-level conceptual design) drive innovation, cost, quality, and timing. These phases have received little attention relative to product lifecycle management. Selected system model architectures are reviewed with elements of model configuration and application to hybrid electric vehicle development. The examples establish MMS requirements, leading to a reference information model promoting collaboration, reuse, and process autonomy. | |
