Abstract: I am very pleased to succeed Prof. David McDowell as the new Editor of Transactions of the ASME, Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology. I would like to thank David for his strong contributions to the journal during his term as Editor and especially for spearheading some excellent special issues. As Editor I look forward to working with the materials and mechanics community, and the ASME Materials Division Executive Committee.
