description abstract | Macroplanning is concerned with deciding on setups and sequences of operations by taking into account interactions between features and issues of fixturing. The algorithms presented in this paper use a set of features arranged in a graph-like data structure to determine the fixture configurations and setups. Operation sequences for the features and tool-paths are determined by separate modules working in conjunction with the macroplanner. Examples are presented to demonstrate the capability of the algorithms implemented in an integrated CAD/ CAM system called CyberCut. | |
