description abstractA fixture has been developed for testing thin specimens under uniaxial tension. The fixture consists of two cantilever beams with strain gauges attached to them close to their fixed ends. The displacement of one beam is used to measure the force and the difference in the displacements of the beams is used to measure the sample displacement. The tensile properties of 0.025 mm by 1.25 mm by 5 mm iron-nickel specimens were measured. The tensile plastic yield point of the specimens was observed to be 1.4 GPa and the total elongation to failure turned out to be five percent and eight percent, for the two tested specimens.
