    On the Generalized Bath-Tub Vortex

Abstract: The general theory of the bath-tub vortex is reviewed, including both the effects of the secondary flow and the existence of an initial angular velocity. The effect of the secondary flow is demonstrated experimentally by measuring the flow angles at the air intake using a baffle plate set parallel and perpendicular to the Earth axis. The experimental proof was obtained by measuring the fluid vorticity through observation of the behavior of a cross shaped float.
