| description abstract | The performance of the standard one-way nesting procedure for a regional application of a third-generation wave model is investigated. It is found that this nesting procedure is not applicable when the resolution has to be enhanced drastically, unless intermediate grids are placed between the coarse and the fine grid areas. This solution, in turn, requires an excess of computing resources. A two-way nesting procedure is developed and implemented in the model. Advantages and disadvantages of both systems are discussed. The model output for a test case is compared with observed data and the results are discussed in the paper. | |
