description abstractSteady-oscillatory flow, such as that produced by reciprocating pumps, can be analyzed using impedance methods including friction. The actual pulsating flow produced by the pump is combined with the elastic and geometric characteristics of the piping system in the analysis. Fluid compressibility is included in both the pump and pipe system analysis. Experimental confirmation of the theory is given.
