    Abstract: A fast calculation model for the pressure distribution in EHL line contacts between rough surfaces is presented. Comparison between the results obtained from the model calculation and numerical simulation shows that, under heavily loaded conditions, the present model gives very accurate predictions of the pressure distribution for both deterministic and random transverse surface roughness. Since the model is based on the superposition of pressure fluctuations, the applications of this model are restricted to heavily loaded contacts.
