description abstractDifferent methods of increasing radiant heat transfer from natural gas flames are discussed. Data are presented on the radiant heat release from an industrial-size horizontal natural gas flame at various distances from the burner head in an experimental insulating-brick furnace. Effects of the addition of combustible and noncombustible particles on natural gas flame radiation are described. Data on flame radiation from an experimental cracking and mixing burner are presented and compared with conventional luminous gas-burner flame radiation.
