    Abstract: The effect of surface roughness on hydrofoil characteristics, particularly cavitation performance, was studied experimentally. It was intended to initiate the first of a series of studies to examine the effect on mechanical characteristics, particularly efficiency, of the surface finishing accuracy of blades in axial-flow turbines and pumps.
