description abstractThis paper provides an overview of the current status and future trends in application of thermal barrier coatings (TBC) to turbine components, and in particular to high turbine airfoils. Included are descriptions of the favorable results achieved to date with bill-of-material applications of plasma-deposited TBC, and recent experience with developmental coatings applied by electron beam-physical vapor deposition.
