Abstract: Key information strongly needed for development of new technologies includes thermophysical property data of various substances, such as high temperature molten semiconductor materials, nonazeotropic working fluids, liquid crystals, geothermal brines, high temperature combustion products, bioliquids, and so on. To meet these demands, new experimental and theoretical techniques have to be effectively developed. In this article, the present status of available information, experimental research, and major experimental difficulties is reviewed. The focus is on transport properties and calorific properties of substances in fluid state, considering the lack of reliable data on these properties. Considering fast technological progress and also limited space, references published in the last ten years have mainly been reviewed.
