Abstract: A series of three centrifugal compressor data sets, each passing rigorous tests for quality, has been completed. Using this data base, single-zone and two-zone modeling is thoroughly critiqued in order to judge the appropriateness of such modeling and, hence, to set guidelines for subsequent design optimization using either single-zone or two-zone modeling.
