description abstract | Described is a method of extracting modal deflection patterns by means of acceleration measurements only. This enables the testing of systems/machines under normal operating conditions with many potential advantages. A single inertance measurement can be used in conjunction with these results to estimate true modal parameters. The method is demonstrated for a drill under machining conditions. Error associated with the proposed method are discussed, and estimated for the given example. | |
