description abstract | The development of high energy-rate forming machines requires the prediction of the vibrational behavior and noise radiation at the design stage. An automatic optimization technique for minimizing the kinetic energy transmitted to the ringing modes of vibration is described. Structural, functional and dynamic constraints are included to ensure the feasibility of the optimum design. The technique is suitable for adaptation to other optimizing criteria and to other types of structure. | |
