| description abstract | A simple model of static elastic contact of asperities is proposed. An integral formulation of the Plane Theory of Elasticity is used to include asperity interaction. Significant modifications of the original profiles are observed and are accompanied by nonsymmetrical pressure fields. On the other hand, the asperity interaction does not greatly modify the stress fields in the bulk. A generalization of the model to a real contact is proposed. | |
