Abstract: Electric utilities are becoming more concerned about extending the life of older fossil-fueled power plants. Of particular interest are methods for estimating the remaining useful life of steam headers and main steam piping. This paper discusses different methodologies for determining exhausted and remaining life of these components. An example of a header which was found to have exhausted its useful life is also presented.
