description abstract | A new concept of controlling tool geometry for in-process chatter suppression is quantitatively evaluated. Experimentally derived relationships between machining stability and tool geometry, namely, rake angle, clearance angle, and side cutting angle are developed. The results indicate an order of magnitude increase in the production rate if the control method is properly used. | |
