| description abstract | The specific compliance of the tracheas of seven anesthetized dogs were measured in vivo under control conditions and with the cervical vagi cut and then stimulated. Specific compliances ranged from 7.9 to 12.2 × 10−6 (dynes/cm2 )−1 for the control measurements and were not significantly different after vagotomy. Stimulation of the vagi reduced the compliance of the trachea by 40–70 percent. These results agree with other reported in-vivo results but the specific compliance values are noticeably less than the values reported for excised trachea. | |
