    An Investigation of “Diaphragm” Type Thrust Bearings—Part I: Experiment

    Source: Journal of Tribology:;1975:;volume( 097 ):;issue: 004::page 570
    Author:
    A. K. Tieu
    DOI: 10.1115/1.3452683
    Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
    Abstract: The performance of two types of hydrodynamic thrust bearings, namely the diaphragm tilting thrust pad and the diaphragm stepped thrust pad, is investigated experimentally under low- and high-speed conditions. The outlet film thickness and coefficient of friction of these diaphragm thrust pads are then correlated with computed results.
