description abstractThe performance of two types of hydrodynamic thrust bearings, namely the diaphragm tilting thrust pad and the diaphragm stepped thrust pad, is investigated experimentally under low- and high-speed conditions. The outlet film thickness and coefficient of friction of these diaphragm thrust pads are then correlated with computed results.
