Abstract: The demand for engineering management training in the United States is expanding. United States engineering colleges focus curricula on technical knowledge and are able to provide few management courses. Engineers are generally promoted to senior level positions based on technical capability and achievements; they are given assignments in management even though their management training may be limited. Individual engineering organizations and United States engineering societies are responding to a recognized need for more training in a variety of constructive ways.
