Abstract: Eight steps are described that a general contractor can use to meet customer expectations and maintain a relationship that will lead to repeat business. The steps include putting a number of questions to the customer for purposes of clarification. The authors explain how the assumptions that arise in the absence of questions can become insoluble problems that will undermine the relationship with the customer.
