Retreat for Success: A Case History in Management Team Building

Abstract

Does your management team trust and communicate well with each other? Or do issues need to be resolved so leadership can be exhibited? If it's the latter, you may need a team-building retreat. The Tampa, Fla., office of a large, transportation-oriented consulting engineering, planning, architectural and surveying firm, suffered from problems in communication, trust, dependency and individualism. Realizing that improvement had to be made to increase their success, they tried a management team-building retreat. Using a facilitator, they hoped the retreat would develop better relations between each department. In this example of a three-day "team-building workshop" retreat, the author breaks down each day, which featured events such as workshops and team-building and entertainment activities.
