Abstract: Simplified analytical techniques are developed for the optimal design of a regenerative clutch-brake. The analysis yields parametric equations for the clutch-brake geometry such that wear and friction sensitivity are optimized. Test results indicate satisfactory correlation with the analytically predicted performance.
