Abstract: Preventive maintenance in regard to governor equipment is one of the more important and, in most instances, one of the least understood phases of present-day power plant maintenance. This paper will outline the converting of a standard test instrument of minimum cost and complexity to a test unit that will permit periodic field checking of governor equipment. It will also discuss the ways and means of using this instrument to determine the condition of a governor unit and pin point areas of trouble.
