Simplified Instrumentation and Field Checking of Hydraulic Turbine Governors

Abstract

Preventive maintenance in regard to governor equipment is one of the more important and, in most instances, one of the least understood phases of present-day power plant maintenance. This paper will outline the converting of a standard test instrument of minimum cost and complexity to a test unit that will permit periodic field checking of governor equipment. It will also discuss the ways and means of using this instrument to determine the condition of a governor unit and pin point areas of trouble.
