description abstractIntroducing a special vectorial internal variable quantifying the density, distribution and orientation of planar microcracks and assuming the existence of a potential in the space of affinities developed is a continuum creep theory which accounts for gradual deterioration of material. The reported numerical results demonstrate the utility of the theory in modelling the tertiary creep phase and predicting the onset of the creep rupture.
