description abstractThis paper develops a procedure for the optimization of dies used in the deep drawing process. Previous efforts in this area are initially related. Considerable discussion is then devoted to the problem formulation. To effect the problem’s solution, several techniques are merged including the use of cubic and quartic splines, regression curve fitting and the techniques of constrained optimization. Computational results and conclusions are given.
