description abstractRecently developed sintered cast iron products from cast iron swarf powder have been examined for its application to plain bearing. In this paper, the mechanical properties related to bearing performance, and its friction and wear characteristics, have been described. Several conditions such as porous material impregnated with oil, high density material in dry running, and the cast iron sintered material with certain amount of added graphite are investigated. In most of the cases, the material sintered from cast iron powder either with or without added graphite is found to have good antifriction properties.
