description abstractA brief literature survey of human factors engineering as applied to machine design is presented. The literature has been classified under the categories: (i) static and functional body dimensions, (ii) body posture and static work, (iii) muscle strength, (iv) metabolic energy expenditure rate, and (v) other factors. A technology transfer mechanism using monographs is suggested to transfer the technology from research level to practice level.
