description abstractThe present investigation is concerned with the application of theories on flow and fracture to the prediction of workability of materials in axisymmetric bar extrusion and drawing, with special reference to center bursting. Part 1 of the investigation deals with the determination of deformation mechanics by the rigid-plastic finite element method. The steady-state deformation characteristic were obtained as functions of material property, die-workpiece interface friction, die angle, and reduction.
