description abstractAs part of the General Electric Company’s efforts to obtain design and application data for oil and gas well drill bits using the STRATAPAX(T) blank product, a series of slug-type bits were fabricated and tested in both the laboratory and field. This paper describes the design and fabrication techniques employed. Field test data and results are presented and a summary of design modifications and improvements incorporated in the newest bit is included.
