description abstractCurved-beam theory is used to obtain a theoretical model to describe deformations in a cylindrical workpiece during boring processes. Analytical expressions are obtained for roundness error due to two-, three-, and four-jaw chucks. Experiments are carried out and theory is compared with measured values of roundness errors for several combinations of material and geometric parameters, showing good agreement.
