description abstractThe heuristic algorithm, developed in Part 1, is applied here to solve certain realistic mechanisms synthesis problems. These include dimensional synthesis of a rotary-to-linear recording mechanisms for minimum structural error, torque minimization of a variable-speed drive, and kinematic synthesis of the printing-bed drive of a printing-press mechanism with optimization of displacement-time function of working stroke. The solution of these problems represents a confirmation of the effectiveness of the algorithm, and at the same time the problems we have selected are believed to be significant representatives of unsolved or partially solved problems in the mechanisms design field.
