description abstractDesign of engineering components for reliable service in conditions where severe load and thermal transients are encountered requires special care. The individual nature of each such application can easily place it out with existing codes of practice. For safe life design in such cases, general analytical techniques involving numerical computation may have to be applied. This paper describes opening stages in one approach to determination of constitutive equations essential to such computations.
