Abstract: This paper presents a new approach to estimate wind speed and install a wind power turbine (WPT) in a power system. The entire installation procedure includes selecting appropriate buses and verifying the power system after installing the WPT. Two reliability indices, the power index in crisis time (PICT) and the endurance index of crisis hours (EICH), were developed and used for determining the reliability level of target buses for WPT installation. The stability and reliability of the hybrid power system formed was verified by determining the reference frequency and voltage. The results described in this paper can be applied to other small power systems using distributed generation, such as hydroelectric power generation.
