Abstract: A large portion of the graduating civil engineering students take the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) Examination, formally known as the EIT Exam, or Engineering in Training Examination, as they complete their senior year. Proper preparation for, and a complete understanding of, the F.E. Exam and how it is graded is essential to maximizing performance. The Exam format was recently changed, and many available references do not have the latest content and grading schemes. A process for both long‐term and shortterm preparation is outlined using the most recent format and a general description of how the Exam is graded.
