    Abstract: A leadership transition at an engineering firm in Ohio is examined. The various factors that must be taken into consideration in deciding whether to promote from within or look outside are discussed. The structure of the firm after the transition is described, with attention given to the expertise made available to the firm’s various committees. Finally, the services provided by a consultant who guided the firm through the transition are described.
