    Abstract: Buckling of a cantilever with a doubly symmetric thin-walled cross section and with one flange laterally restrained is treated by a direct variational method. The critical load is tabulated in terms of a geometric parameter for four cases of loading restraint. The critical load is always increased by flange restraint.
