description abstract | In order to avoid or delay the phenomenon of pavement slab humping by high temperatures in summer, from the point of view of mechanical behaviors, the reason of pavement slab humping by high temperatures in summer was discussed, the maximum stress difference between tops and bottoms of pavement slabs over a year and the critical stress of buckling of pavement slabs were calculated by giving an example. The result shows that (1) only from the point of view of strength, if expansion slots were set improperly, old pavement slabs in summer would be in danger; (2) if functions of expansion slots were not guaranteed, the critical humping length of pavement slab about 26 cm in thickness would be about 85 m in summer. Therefore, it is suggested that in the south area it is suitable that the distances between two expansion slots should be 80 m for pavement slabs constructed by pure concrete or light reinforcement concrete, which is widely adopted by fourth class or under fourth class highways (such as village highways constructed by lower cost). | |
