Abstract: Aiming at rheologic characteristics of gilsonite modified bitumen, the gilsonite performances of various kind and dosage were compared and analyzed with PG appraisal system through DSR, BBR and Brookfield revolving viscosity tests. DSR and BBR tests can offer gist for founding creep curve and stiffness modulus in some time. By calculating shearing rate and shearing strength, brookfield test can measure the high temperature viscosity of bitumen. The experiments indicate that, the high temperature grades of bitumen are enhanced, the rut resistance factor and the GTS value are increased, the high temperature stability is enhanced and the thermal sensitivity is reduced greatly after modification. If the dosage of gilsonite is controlled to certain extent, it would have no considerably adverse influence on low temperature performance.
