description abstractRegional transportation system is a dissipative structure. Based on the properties of transportation system, average traffic congestion degree of effective road is used as a sequential parameter to describe the process and direction of system evolution. An entropy measuring model is put forward based on entropy theory and information theory after analyzing the dissipative structure property of the transportation system. Finally, transportation system entropy in Beijing Metropolitan Area from 1998 to 2004 is calculated according to the model, and the process and direction of system evolution is analyzed based on entropy change theory.
