Abstract: According to the structure characters of rock slopes containing weak surfaces, model of roadbed slope containing weak surfaces is build up, and then a design method based on the limiting equilibrium is established. The optimum stable excavation angle of the slope containing weak surfaces can be calculated with the method. The method is used in a road engineering practice, the sensibility relations of the factors which influence the stable excavation angle of the rock slopes are analyzed and orthogonal test scheme is determined, based on sensitivity analysis as well as reasonable span of the stable excavating angle. At last, efficiency and practicability of the method as a convenient way to calculate the stable excavating angle is proved though the analysis of the examples of road engineering.
