    Abstract: This paper focuses on studying the damped properties of damped free vibration for single-degree-of-freedom system by using the Noether symmetries. Based on the Noether theorem, the damping coefficient and amplitude of the damped free vibration system were derived. It is shown that this method of symmetries is useful in studying damped vibration of dynamics of structure. An example is presented to illustrate these results.
