Abstract: Upon receiving the Second Roebling Award, the writer presents the Second Roebling Lecture 1991. The award recognizes individuals who have contributed toward the advancement of construction engineering. After recalling some of the engineering projects he has worked on, and making special mention of an early mentor, the writer reviews some facts of John August Roebling's life.
