Abstract: This paper presents the results of experiments to evaluate the potential for using a resin-in-pulp process to remove lead contamination from soil. These experiments examined the kinetics and equilibrium partitioning of lead, lead carbonate, lead oxide, and lead sulfate in resin-soil-acetate buffer systems. The results show the trade-offs to be made among the amount of resin used, the number of contacting stages that may be needed to meet a target final soil concentration, the contact time, the solution pH, and the solution acetate concentration.
